Build a Rewarding Career with a Trusted Tree Service Company

We're a tree care company based in Metro Atlanta & Charlotte, and we're hiring. Sesmas Tree Service serves local residential and commercial clients. Our crews handle everything from routine pruning to emergency storm damage, and we need reliable people to keep up with the work. If you want steady hours outdoors with a team that knows what they're doing, this page covers what we offer and what we expect.

What We're Looking For
Tree work isn't for everyone. The hours start early, and you'll still be working when rain rolls through because a fallen tree doesn't wait for sunshine. The job takes physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to stay focused when the stakes are high. We're looking for people who show up on time, work hard, and take direction well. Experience helps, but it's not required for every role. What matters more is reliability. We can teach you how to run a stump grinder or how to rig a limb for removal, but we can't teach you to care about doing the job right. If you've worked in landscaping, construction, roofing, or any other trade that keeps you outside and on your feet, you already know the pace we're talking about.

Skills You'll Use and Learn

Tree care involves a range of skills, and most people develop them over time on the job. Here's what the work requires.

  • Physical Labor and Stamina. You'll spend your days lifting, carrying, dragging, and hauling logs, branches, and equipment from one place to another until the job is done. The work is demanding, and the pace is steady, so you'll need to stay fit and manage your energy across a full day.
  • Equipment Operation. The trade relies on chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and rigging systems. You'll learn to operate these tools safely and maintain them properly so they're ready when you need them.
  • Hazard Assessment. Every job site is different, and conditions change as the work progresses. You'll learn to read a tree's condition, spot risks in the surrounding area, and anticipate problems before they turn into emergencies.
  • Climbing and Rigging. For those who move into work at height, you'll train on ropes, harnesses, and the techniques required for ascending, positioning yourself in the canopy, and lowering limbs in a controlled way.
  • Teamwork and Communication. Tree work depends on clear signals and trust between crew members. When someone is forty feet up with a chainsaw, everyone on the ground needs to be paying attention and responding quickly to keep the job moving safely.
  • Client Interaction. You'll often work on residential properties with homeowners present, which means representing the company professionally, answering basic questions, and leaving the property in a condition that reflects well on the work you've done.
Training and Safety

Training and Safety

Tree work is dangerous. Chainsaws, heavy limbs, heights, and unpredictable conditions create real hazards every day, and we take that seriously. Every crew member receives hands-on training before working independently, covering proper equipment use, hazard identification, and clear communication protocols during a job. We hold regular safety meetings to review what's working and discuss situations that have come up in the field. Safety starts at the top and filters down through every decision we make on-site. If something is wrong, we expect you to speak up rather than push through. We provide personal protective equipment, including helmets, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and chainsaw chaps, and we expect you to use it without exception.

What You'll Earn

Pay depends on the role and your experience. Entry-level ground crew positions start at a competitive rate with room to grow as you gain skills and take on more responsibility. Those who develop specialized abilities or move into leadership roles earn more accordingly. We offer consistent hours year-round. Atlanta's climate means trees grow fast, and storms hit often, so work doesn't disappear in the off-season the way it might further north. You can expect full days and full weeks for most of the year. We also offer benefits for eligible employees, including health insurance and paid time off. Ask about the specifics when you apply.

Room to Grow

We don't hire people just to fill slots. We hire people we want to keep, and that means investing in training and creating pathways forward. Plenty of our crew leaders started on the ground, dragging brush and feeding chippers before working their way up. We support employees who want to earn industry certifications, including ISA Certified Arborist credentials. If you want to build a long-term career in tree care rather than just picking up a paycheck, we'll help you get there. Skilled tree care professionals are in demand. The work keeps you active, teaches you a valuable trade, and you see exactly what you accomplished at the end of every day.

The Culture

We're a family-owned company, and that shapes how things run. Crews work closely together, so you'll get to know the people beside you, and they'll get to know you. Respect matters, and so does attitude. We don't have patience for unsafe behavior or people who can't take feedback, but if you want to work hard, learn a skilled trade, and be part of a team that takes pride in results, you'll do well here. If this sounds like the kind of work you'd be good at, we want to hear from you.

Customer Reviews

3 large Leyland Cypress trees removed near front of our home. Excellent service, professional crew, very competitive pricing for superior work! Rolando provided the initial estimate and the  follow up and was the best in terms of customer relations. I'd both use this company again AND highly recommend them.

This is the 2nd time we have used Sesmas Tree Service. They are a wonderful company to deal with. They were on time, professional, and very thorough. They cleaned up prior to leaving and went out of their way to protect our plants and landscaping. And they kept to their proposal with no hidden cost or add ons. Definitely a five star experience!

Gene McFadden

Wow!  I deal with tree services in my professional work and I can honestly say Sesmas is by far the most professional, best equipped, efficient, safety conscious, and communicative service I've ever encountered.  Their price was very reasonable and they even went so far as to include additional work without increasing the price.  Call them!  Now! They are very quick to respond.

Scott McLendon

We've used Sesmas several times and have always received excellent service.  Estimates are quick and easy and the crew is efficient and leaves the property clean of debris.  Recently we needed a tree removed next to a heavily landscaped area.  Sebastian went over everything with me in detail and listened to my concerns.  The crew did an excellent job in removing the tree with minimal disturbance to the surrounding area.  We are pleased and will consider them again in the future for pruning and tree removal.
