We're a tree care company based in Metro Atlanta & Charlotte, and we're hiring. Sesmas Tree Service serves local residential and commercial clients. Our crews handle everything from routine pruning to emergency storm damage, and we need reliable people to keep up with the work. If you want steady hours outdoors with a team that knows what they're doing, this page covers what we offer and what we expect.
What We're Looking For
Tree work isn't for everyone. The hours start early, and you'll still be working when rain rolls through because a fallen tree doesn't wait for sunshine. The job takes physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to stay focused when the stakes are high. We're looking for people who show up on time, work hard, and take direction well. Experience helps, but it's not required for every role. What matters more is reliability. We can teach you how to run a stump grinder or how to rig a limb for removal, but we can't teach you to care about doing the job right. If you've worked in landscaping, construction, roofing, or any other trade that keeps you outside and on your feet, you already know the pace we're talking about.
Tree care involves a range of skills, and most people develop them over time on the job. Here's what the work requires.
Tree work is dangerous. Chainsaws, heavy limbs, heights, and unpredictable conditions create real hazards every day, and we take that seriously. Every crew member receives hands-on training before working independently, covering proper equipment use, hazard identification, and clear communication protocols during a job. We hold regular safety meetings to review what's working and discuss situations that have come up in the field. Safety starts at the top and filters down through every decision we make on-site. If something is wrong, we expect you to speak up rather than push through. We provide personal protective equipment, including helmets, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and chainsaw chaps, and we expect you to use it without exception.
Pay depends on the role and your experience. Entry-level ground crew positions start at a competitive rate with room to grow as you gain skills and take on more responsibility. Those who develop specialized abilities or move into leadership roles earn more accordingly. We offer consistent hours year-round. Atlanta's climate means trees grow fast, and storms hit often, so work doesn't disappear in the off-season the way it might further north. You can expect full days and full weeks for most of the year. We also offer benefits for eligible employees, including health insurance and paid time off. Ask about the specifics when you apply.
We don't hire people just to fill slots. We hire people we want to keep, and that means investing in training and creating pathways forward. Plenty of our crew leaders started on the ground, dragging brush and feeding chippers before working their way up. We support employees who want to earn industry certifications, including ISA Certified Arborist credentials. If you want to build a long-term career in tree care rather than just picking up a paycheck, we'll help you get there. Skilled tree care professionals are in demand. The work keeps you active, teaches you a valuable trade, and you see exactly what you accomplished at the end of every day.
We're a family-owned company, and that shapes how things run. Crews work closely together, so you'll get to know the people beside you, and they'll get to know you. Respect matters, and so does attitude. We don't have patience for unsafe behavior or people who can't take feedback, but if you want to work hard, learn a skilled trade, and be part of a team that takes pride in results, you'll do well here. If this sounds like the kind of work you'd be good at, we want to hear from you.
